Location In the depression in the center of the suprasternal fossa.
Local Anatomy: In the depression 0.5 cun above the suprasternal notch, between the left and right sternocleidomastoid muscles. In it’s deep position in the sternohyoid and sternothyroid muscles.
Vasculature: Superficially, the jugular arch and the branch of the inferior thyroid artery. Deeper is found the trachea. Inferiorly, is found at the posterior aspect of the sternum, the inominate vein and aortic arch.
Innervation: The anterior branch of the supraclavicular nerve.
